Shouldn’t the title be Du bist kein Spielzeug?
No. For one reason that will become self-evident from the album cover, it must be Toy.
I admit my occasional use of German on this album is entirely second hand. That is to say, the lyrics I wrote were translated for me by the talented artists who sang them. When visiting Germany I almost always spoke English with my hosts. The bits and pieces of the language I have succeeded in memorizing are often not what you’d be taught in school.
This album was inspired in part by my visit to Berlin during a rainy week in November several years ago.
